Work, Foreign Languages, and Snuff Films

I haven't done any film posts in a while and everyone's forgotten how pretentious I am about this stuff, so here goes:

Basically, for this new job I have now, it would help if I learned Spanish or Portuguese. I don't think I've explained on here what I've been doing, but basically it's paralegal work and many of the clients are Latin American, so my seven years of studying French aren't exactly helping me right now. So, in an effort to teach myself Spanish, I'm watching violent films by queer filmmakers, like Alejandro Amenábar's Tesis.

If you haven't seen it, I'd recommend it, though it's definitely not your typical horror film. It follows a typical ignorant film student who's writing a thesis on snuff films and gets in over her head. It's filled with a lot of commentary on film, violence, consumer culture, pornography. I have to admit I've always been behind on my queer Spanish filmmakers (I know some Gael-obsessed girls who would say that it's about time...) so this is a good chance for me to make up for that.
